Earlier in the year The Department of Energy & Climate Change announced that the Independent Review of Tidal Lagoons would be led by industry expert Charles Hendry, supported by a team of seconded civil servants. The review will assess the strategic case for tidal lagoons and whether they can play a cost effective role as part of the UK energy mix. The review will also help establish an evidence base to ensure all decisions made regarding tidal lagoon energy are in the best interest of the UK.
A Call for Evidence on tidal lagoons has now been issued and is looking for any suggestions people may have on the costs, benefits and opportunities of tidal lagoons. The deadline for this is the 31st July.
