7th Annual IFM Specialist Conference
Coldra Court Hotel, Newport. April 25th – 26th 2017.
With a Government drive to increase the proportion of energy we obtain from renewable sources there is increasing focus on reliable and predictable sources from the aquatic environment. To meet renewable energy targets whilst protecting the environments in which the schemes will sit requires detailed science based environmental assessments. Understanding fish population dynamics and behaviour will be key to undertaking these assessments.
With this in mind, and with the increased attention on renewable energy in the press, the Institute has decided to make this the subject of our annual specialist conference.
In light of the current focus of schemes towards the Welsh coastline and river network this event will be run by our Welsh Branch and will have a session dedicated to the Severn Estuary and it’s tributary rivers.
The conference will bring together speakers from all sides of the debate and across all aspects of renewable power generation, and we are delighted to welcome speakers from Canada, France, Korea and Ireland to the conference
Conference Sessions will cover
- Tidal Power
- Assessment Approaches & Learning Lessons
- Fisheries of The Severn Estuary
- Hydropower (double session)
- New Technology
- Open forum
