Marine Energy Wales

Home » Morlais shaping the future of marine energy in wales

An Anglesey tidal energy project will take its message to a national audience this week as it attends the Marine Energy Wales (MEW) conference in Swansea.

Morlais will be exhibiting at the annual event again this year, representing Menter Môn, and putting north Wales on the map.

The event at Swansea Arena will see delegates from the marine energy sector in Wales and beyond share the latest news and innovations from various projects across the country.

At the two-day event the Morlais team will look to extend its networks and make new contacts with key stakeholders as it contributes to play a key role in shaping the future of renewable energy in Wales.

Morlais Director, Gerallt Llewelyn Jones explains as he looks forward to the event: “This conference is another great opportunity for us to engage with industry stakeholders, to discuss and learn from the different projects that we have in Wales. As the first consented project on this scale in the UK, events like this are a platform for us to grow our presence within the industry whilst sharing knowledge that can benefit us all in the future.”

“Welsh Government has identified marine renewable energy as a priority and is committed to investing in projects that have the potential to bring significant economic benefit to Wales. We are detemined to be part of that.”

John Jenkins, Morlais Commercial Director will be fronting the Morlais presence at the conference, he added: “I am looking forward to representing Morlais at the MEW event in Swansea this year. Marine Energy has so much to offer here in Wales, so it’s great to see everyone from the sector coming together to showcase the great work we are doing for the environment to reduce carbon emissions through tidal energy.”

John will be participating in the panel discussion ‘Tidal Stream Energy Masterclass’ with other sector representatives, and there will be a Morlais stand at the two-day event.

Morlais will be launching its LinkedIn presence to coincide with the MEW conference.

Morlais is funded by the European Regional Development fund through the Welsh Government. It is also supported by the Isle of Anglesey County Council, North Wales Growth Deal, as well as The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
