Home » MPS APPOINTS WINDSY ON WIND TURBINE EPCM JOB

Windsy has been selected to support Marine Power Systems in the supply and deployment of
the wind turbine to be used on their megawatt scale commercial demonstrator at BiMEP in
northern Spain.

Windsy GmbH is a leading global consultancy and engineering service provider to the wind
industry. Windsy develops robust and reliable wind turbine products and systems to deliver
industrial scale solutions.

Marine Power Systems unique and flexible technology is the only solution of its type that can
be configured to harness wind and wave energy, either as a combined solution or on their
own, in deep water. The structurally efficient floating platform, PelaFlex, brings excellent
stability and straightforward deployment and maintenance. Their PelaGen wave energy
converter represents advanced technology and generates energy at an extremely competitive
cost of energy.

Marine Power Systems’ offshore platform technology offers best in class cost compared with
its peers due to the significantly reduced system mass. Moreover, its modular and flexible
design, enables optimum local content delivery through a decentralised logistics model.
These benefits provide utility scale developers maximum flexibility between reducing cost
and increasing local economic benefits, whilst in parallel accelerating farm deployment at
scale.

Windsy will be supporting Marine Power Systems in the engineering, procurement and
construction management of the 2MW turbine that will be deployed on their floating platform
technology later next year. The tension legged platform has zero tilt and low acceleration
which maximises energy capture and minimises turbine wear and tear whilst also reducing
wind turbine controller modification.

Graham Foster, CTO at Marine Power Systems commented,

“At MPS we see our partners and suppliers are very much part our team, and with Windsy we’re adding another sector leading expert to our already excellent team. We have previously delivered successful projects with
Windsy and this latest appointment will not only support the procurement and deployment of
the wind turbine but will ensure we are benefiting from the very best expertise in the industry
and developing that capability within our own team.”

Alexander Ribbentrop-Arcade, Technical Managing Director at Windsy commented,

“The entire Windsy team, with its turbine design expertise, and as part of the Vulcain Group is
committed to deliver a robust and reliable floating wind turbine demonstrator. We are
passioned to deliver with MPS and its partners a leading technology for future industrial scale
floating solutions.”
