Welsh-based marine energy company Marine Power Systems (MPS) has expanded its board with the appointment of Andrew Diplock as non-executive director.

Andrew Diplock has a successful career track record working across various technical, project management, commercial and leadership roles in corporates and start-up companies.

A qualified chartered electrical engineer, Diplock has over 25 years of experience in the energy and utilities sector including a successful exit in 2015 as co-founder of an energy consultancy business.

Diplock has played an active part in the last five years investing in start-up companies in Wales and supporting their growth through a non-executive role and close mentorship of founders.

He is a lead investor with the Development Bank of Wales for their angel co-fund and has successfully led angel syndicates in multiple successful funding rounds.

In addition to a commitment for continuous improvement in governance and general expertise of the Board, Diplock’s appointment as non-executive director will support and advise MPS in the areas of business development, commercial structures, energy markets and investor relationships.

Commenting on his new position, Andrew Diplock said: “Having worked in the energy sector for 25 years, I have seen first-hand the technical advancements and commercial innovation needed to overcome the challenges towards a sustainable de-carbonised future.

MPS has developed a platform technology can be configured to deliver wave power only (WaveSub), wind power only (WindSub) or a combination of both wave and wind power (DualSub).
