Home » Blue Gem Wind update to UK GOVERNMENT

Blue Gem Wind and the Port of Milford Haven gave a progress report on the Celtic Sea’s first floating wind farm to UK Government Ministers.

Secretary of State for Wales, Simon Hart MP and Parliamentary Under-Secretary State for Wales, David T.C. Davies MP  discussed the critical importance of Welsh ports in creating new low carbon, high skilled jobs.

Secretary of State for Wales, Simon Hart, said: “The UK Government has committed up to £160 million to support new large-scale floating offshore wind ports and factories across the UK. This funding, boosted by private sector investment, will develop the infrastructure we need to mass-produce the necessary turbines and install them out at sea.”

Steve Edwards, Commercial Director, Port of Milford Haven  and Louise Thibierge, Supply Chain Manager at Blue Gem Wind were delighted to provide more detail on the  “stepping stone” approach to development.

Louise Thibierge said, “This approach aims to maximise local and UK supply chain content, and, is a catalyst for port and infrastructure upgrades.”
