DCNS OpenHydro, Tocardo and Nova Innovation are among eight tidal players to sign berth agreements at Morlais Marine Energy’s proposed West Anglesey Tidal Zone in Wales.
US outfits Aquantis and Verdant Power, Schottel Hydro’s UK subsidiary Tidal Stream, University of Oxford spin-off Kepler Energy and Canada’s Instream Energy Systems complete the line-up at the test centre off Holyhead.
Berths will be up to 30MW each and developers will need to sign a sub-lease with UK seabed landlord Crown Estate.
The zone is currently slated to open by summer 2019.
