Home » UK Committee on Climate Change’s (UKCCC) Call for Evidence

Cardiff, 6 July
Deganwy,13 July

Following on from the UK Committee on Climate Change’s (UKCCC) Call for Evidence on how we account on our emissions in Wales they will now be holding a second, Call for Evidence (between 6 July and 11 September) on setting the interim targets, first two carbon budgets and pathways for action.

The Environment (Wales) Act sets a 2050 target to reduce emissions by at least 80% and provides the legislative framework for establishing a carbon budgeting approach in Wales. The Act requires that before the end of 2018, Welsh Ministers must set in regulation interim emissions targets, carbon budgets and our accounting framework.

The UKCCC has been asked by the Welsh Government to provide advice on setting interim targets and budgets and pathways for action. Their Call aims to seek evidence from stakeholders in Wales to inform their advice.

There will be joint Welsh Government/UKCCC engagement events around the Call in South Wales (Cardiff, 6 July) and North Wales (Deganwy, 13 July). If you would like to reserve a space, can you please email the Decarbonisation Mailbox – Decarbonisationmailbox@wales.gsi.gov.uk indicating whether you would like to attend the South or North Wales event.  Please note that spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Further information will be provided in due course.
