With the technology, infrastructure and energy mix demand developing, marine energy can be seen as a key frontier in clean energy generation. The UK Marine Energy Conference 2016 will focus on accelerating marine energy as a viable energy alternative and maintaining the UK’s position at the forefront of this emerging market.

The UK Marine Energy Conference will be held on 5th July 2016, at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel. Through a combination of conference discussions and networking the event will provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss key debates and direct the industry towards a successful and sustainable future.

Currently the UK is seen as the leader for the development of tidal and wave energy technologies.  Despite being in the early stages of development, The Carbon Trust estimates that UK companies could capture around 22% of the global market for marine energy which could be worth around £76 billion between now and 2050.  Therefore further research and investment is needed to identify how best to exploit these assets.

The conference will address the role for marine energy in the new energy infrastructure. Presentations will examine reducing costs, building investor confidence, generating growth and successful pathways to commercialisation. Time will also be afforded to discussions on environmental impacts, developing industry standards, innovation & new technologies, and the latest updates from existing marine energy projects.

UK Marine Energy Conference boasts an exciting speaker line-up. With case studies on the UK’s latest projects from the likes of David Taafe, Project Manager at MeyGen, an offshore tidal stream turbine near Pentland Firth. To marine robotics solutions from National Oceanography Centre’s Adam Schink, Marine Robotics Innovation Centre Manager.

Networking & Exhibition

The UK Marine Energy Conference will also feature an intimate exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and solutions from across the marine energy sector.

The exhibition will also host networking throughout the course of the day, with breakfast, lunch and evening drinks. This will bring together government officials, manufacturers, project developers and investors with consultants and contractors. Bookings for exhibition stands are now being taken, do get in touch if you wish to showcase your latest work to the marine energy industry.
