Marine Energy Wales will be hosting its annual conference on 19th April and a limited number of tickets are still available for Wales’ only conference dedicated to the marine renewable energy industry.
The conference will feature 25 world class speakers from project developers, supply chain, government and regulators, alongside a sold out industry exhibition demonstrating what Welsh companies have to offer. A post-event dinner will also be held in Cardiff Castle, to further discussions and networking.
It is the first time the event has been brought to Cardiff and the Marine Energy Wales team are delighted to be showcasing significant progress for marine energy in Wales in the nation’s capital, particularly during the Year of the Sea.
Within the last 12 months there has been many positive developments for the industry in Wales. The Swansea Bay City Deal was signed which included a major marine energy project in the form of Pembroke Dock Marine. The Morlais Demonstration Zone received significant EU Structural Funding, and the feasibility study is being completed for the Pembrokeshire Demonstration Zone. Wave-tricity and Marine Power Systems have built and launched their wave energy devices in Pembroke Dock with Bombora setting up their European headquarters there too. Meanwhile Nova Innovation have expanded their team in North Wales, and Minesto are well underway with construction in Anglesey.
Event hosts Marine Energy Wales are delighted that Mark Drakeford AM, Cabinet Secretary for Finance will deliver the keynote address, alongside Felix Leinemann, Head of the Blue Economy Sector Unit with the European Commission, while Anna McMorrin MP for Cardiff North and Shadow Parliamentary Private Secretary for International Trade and Climate Change will open the proceedings.
