Earlier today, Marine Energy Wales took part in a high-level strategy roundtable hosted by Great British Energy (GBE) in Cardiff, where senior industry representatives explored priorities for GBE’s forthcoming Strategic Plan.
Our Senior Project Manager, Jay Sheppard, joined the discussion to share insight from Wales’ marine renewable energy sector, helping shape GBE’s approach to investment, supply chain growth and community benefit. We welcomed the opportunity to provide feedback on early thinking and highlight how Wales can play a leading role in the UK’s clean energy transition.
It was encouraging to hear GBE’s ambition to act as a catalyst for floating offshore wind (FLOW), including exploring equity investment to accelerate deployment and strengthen UK supply chains. We also look forward to continued dialogue on how tidal stream projects, such as those at Morlais, can contribute to the UK’s clean energy and industrial strategy.
Marine Energy Wales thanks GBE for engaging with industry at this formative stage. We remain committed to ensuring that Welsh innovation, ports and supply chains are at the heart of the UK’s net zero future.
