The Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme is the government’s main mechanism for supporting new, low carbon electricity generation projects in the United Kingdom (UK). The government is considering a number of changes to the way the CfD scheme operates and has opened the following consultation Contracts for Difference (CfD):proposed amendments to the scheme 2020 which seeks views from stakeholders and interested parties on these proposals.Â
MEW is coordinating a response to this consultation. Our aim is to represent all areas of the marine energy sector including academia, ports, supply chain etc, not just project developers.
We need as many stakeholders as possible to respond to this critical consultation to ensure a route to market for industry.
The deadline for this consultation has now been extended to 29 May 2020
MEW are working with the MEC to ensure there are consistent messages from industry to this consultation. We know that many of you are very busy and potentially stretched in these unprecedented times, we will be circulating a template letter to facilitate the submission of a clear and consistent sector wide message and as many responses to the consultation as possible. MEWÂ invite as many members as possible to submit the template, unless you intend to provide a full consultation response.Â
We will provide the collated MEW response and the template letter by Friday 22 May – allowing a week for members to submit their own responses – please keep an eye out for this.

If you would like further assistance in responding to the consultation please contact us at info@marineenergywales.co.uk
