Do you want to join us in creating a haven for marine energy? Wales’ national Marine Energy Test Area (META) is hiring!
Established in 2000, Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum (PCF) is a multi-award-winning Community Interest Company that works to enhance the coast and marine environment for current and future generations. As a coastal partnership PCF has developed a range of local and national collaborative projects, often viewed as sustainable best practice, including the Pembrokeshire Marine Code and Outdoor Charter, Wales Activity Mapping and Marine Energy Wales.
Marine Energy Wales (MEW), brings together technology developers, the supply chain, academia and the public sector aiming to create a thriving and diverse marine energy sector in Wales, including the emerging technologies of wave, tidal and floating offshore wind. Under the MEW programme, the Marine Energy Test Area (META) is now operational and offering a range of Quayside (Phase 1) and Open Water (Phase 2) test sites.
META provides consented areas of waterway, close to an operational base complete with licenses and access to enabling infrastructure. Strategically located to provide early stage device developers with an easy access nursery facility for testing components, subassemblies, operational procedures and devices, META aims to de-risk future deployments and take advantage of a local experienced and substantial supply chain and associated R&D facility. META also works closely with its Swansea Bay City Deal partners under the Pembroke Dock Marine project; Milford Haven Port Authority, the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult’s Marine Energy Engineering Centre of Excellence (MEECE) and WaveHub’s Pembrokeshire Demonstration Zone.
At PCF and MEW, our values are important to us and we expect them to be important to you:
- Sustainability – we only work on projects that contribute to our vision. For us this means a healthy and resilient community with a thriving coastal economy, living in harmony with natural resources.
- Collaboration – we recognise stakeholder engagement and working in partnership are critical to success. Everything we do is achieved with others.
- Passion – we are passionate about making a difference; to the sustainability of coasts, oceans and communities.
- Flexibility – we provide flexibility for our customers and our team and to adapt to the challenges and opportunities facing our coasts.
- Reliability – we have been achieving results with our partners since 2000, consistently delivering positive impact and sharing best practice, often from projects originated in Pembrokeshire
