Marine Energy Wales State of the Sector 2021

On Monday 19th July 2021, Marine Energy Wales launched the fifth iteration of our ‘State of the Sector’ report, looking at the socioeconomic benefits the marine renewable energy industry brings to Wales.

Within the report, some exciting facts and figures are revealed about how the sector has been progressing over the last year in the face of the ongoing pandemic as well as a forward look at what’s next for the sector. The report also highlights the findings of an industry survey conducted by Marine Energy Wales and provides information on wave, tidal stream, tidal range, and floating offshore wind energy projects.

The report was launched in an online webinar, featuring speakers from some of the leading marine energy companies driving the growth in jobs and investment up and down the country: Minesto, Bombora, Marine Power Systems and Blue Gem Wind, as well as a key note address from Welsh Government Climate Change Minister Julie James – acknowledging the significant progress made by the industry over the last 12 months, the ongoing support for the sector from Welsh Government and the important role emerging offshore renewables will play in achieving net zero by 2050.
